I got a bunch of pictures from Kevin today inculding the Ooyama showas that were left in the mud to grow out a second year. I also have the old pictures as well so it'll make a nice little time machine thread. I don't know if Kevin's had time to update all his customers since he got back a little while ago and he and Jane have their hands full as new parents.

Thats some nice showas Dan. I find it interesting in post #8 how the motog. in the pect. fins changed so dramatically. In post #9 the one pect fin darkened also. Wonder if the sumi will tighten back up on those pects. with maturity ? This will be interesting to follow.

Thanks for the pictures and (time machine). Mike

Dan, too bad your Showa didnt turn out as good as you wanted it. Did Kevin say anything in regards to if the Showa should come home now...

Dan, thanks for posting. Always very interesting to see how quality koi such as these develop with time. A few seem to have looked their best at Nisai, while the rest are getting better. It must be a relief to know that yours survived the mud pond this summer which is always a risk.

- Wayne, thinks Dan has a stout girl on his hands.

That one is mine. I thought the motoguro development is really interesting as well. It consolidated and then it expanded again. It'll be fun to see if it consolidates again.

I still like th body on it, can't do anything about the pattern. Yes, it's gonna come home. To what home, I don't know yet. :)

Yeah, I know it's a risk to leave it in the mud but it was a risk I was willing to take to try to get the max potential out of the fish. Besides, since I didn't have a place for her, I that was definitely my best option.

It's interesting that they were all in the same mud pond from the same set of parents but the rate of the sumi development is so dramatically different in all of them. It's also great fun to see the development of the motoguro and menware in this set of fish.
