Hello everyone,

I am new to this forum,

Since this section is all about critiquing koi...

Please help me out... http://www.handsofcaesar.com/bronze-koi-ni...culpture-1.html ... shows the work-in-progress for this koi project. Images are uploaded periodically.

The goal is to sculpt the koi as realistic as possible, with much detail.

Everyone is encouraged to give his or her opinion.

For instance, the concept has already been changed, thanks to a views suggestion. Moreover, another viewer sent me a lead to where I was able to in prove on the fins.

Sincerely,

Caesar Yanez

your pec fins should be lslightly larger and your Anal fins should definitely be smaller...also the anal fins rarely "flare out" like the pic you are copying from..
there is a man who posts photos here and his name is majong or something like it...someone will post his name if that isn't it...go to his website for detailed pics of koi..his photos are sharper than anyone's

Hi,

Attached is a rough sketch for the composition... (The one that show the frog is the old sketch) sorry I goofed and submitted to identical images and I do not know how to delete one of them.

It has changed twice already; perhaps it will change again...

the size of the total sculpture is still up in the air ;) ... anyhow the largest koi is 26 inches and the smallest is 12"

Anyhow, all the information is posted on the URL... http://www.handsofcaesar.com/bronze-koi-ni...culpture-1.html

Thanks for the warm welcome,

Caesar

Hi,

I will wait for someone to direct me to his images...

As for the pec fins, I had them larger and slightly shorten them. Nevertheless, if I receive an overall concusses on the pecs, will definitely make them larger.

The anal fins I will make smaller. I am also wondering if my images are showing the fins correctly. For the anal fins, if I change the angle, they will appear smaller. I wish you folks could see these sculptures in person.

As for the barbels, yes! I will add them the last minute before I make the mold. For now I gave up on them, they just keep on breaking off.

Thanks I will work on the fins,

Caesar

I just went back to view the fins before I made the current change...

You are correct; the anal fins seem too large now...

The attached images will make it obvious :o ...

I have also added an image that shows the proposed new scale for the anal fins. (They are the same fins; I just digitally scaled them down and layered them over the existing fins)

Luke,

As I was re-sculpting the fins, I noticed that the anal was not near the fins I was working on... did you mean to say (Pelvic fins) ... I had to look up the anatomy of the koi to make sure I was talking about the correct fins... http://www.koi.net.au/anatomy.php

Nevertheless, the pelvic fins have been scaled down. I will post the new images within the hour.

Caesar

here are the images after the pelvic fins have been corrected...

Overall I think this koi is done, all that is needed is one last pass to catch any goofs...

Thank you for your feedback and keen eyes...

yep...pelvic

Now...
the pelvic and pectoral fins do not adhere to the body in a linear fashion...the rays all go in at one spot not like the dorsal fin or tail

Luke,

thanks for paying attention to detail...

the image attached is a rough digital mock up. Before I rework the clay I want to make sure I am on the right track...

I will revist both pectoral and pelvic fins for the next correction...

I really admire the attention to detail you are putting in this sculpture. Pretty amazing!! I like Lukes idea of getting a food carp from the fish market. You can get a much better about anatomy looking at the real thing.

I'd like to move this thread to the main koi chat area. It might get seen by more people. Do you mind?

Carolinagirl,

I would appreciate it if you can help me give this more exposure. This is my first week blogging; therefore, I am still on my learning curve.

Initially I did not know where to post this thread; I did not what anyone upset with me for posting in the wrong category.

Thanks,

Caesar
