from Burt Ballou -- a letter which was supposed to have been sent to all KHAs last night after the AKCA Board meeting.
Since it apparently wasn't sent as requested, and wasn't posted on the KHA Forum either, we hope this post will suffice in lieu:
Please be advised that the AKCA board accepted Karen Pattist's voluntary resignation as administrator of the KHA program.
The AKCA board will apoint an interim committee to oversee the program and to also act as a search committee to find the best possible candidate for her replacement.
The AKCA board passed in a unanimous motion that AKCA can NOT self insure the KHA's as it would be financially irresponsible to take on such a huge risk. Each individual KHA should contact their homeowner's carrier or their homeowner's insurance agent to determine if their homeowner's insurance will afford coverage to them as in most cases it will.
The AKCA board wanted to advise all KHA's that the board fully intends to continue the KHA program, and has never contemplated dissolving it.
Thank you,
Burt Ballou
