We started out with this last year (like 370 days ago)
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i229/mstrseed/IMAG0358_001.jpg
A good start
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i229/mstrseed/IMAG0377_001.jpg
Hit rock real quick into the project! So we then needed bigger equipment.
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i229/mstrseed/IMAG0375_001.jpg
The Hensley rock bucket even had a rough time.
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i229/mstrseed/IMAG0383_001.jpg
Even tried with the jack hammer during the week. Kenneth was watching at this point be he rode the hammer more than me.
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i229/mstrseed/IMAG0403_001.jpg
Teeth kept coming off bucket so I had to clean them out before putting them back on. 3 weeks of digging in this picture.
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i229/mstrseed/Picture008.jpg
Kenneth and Karl helped a bunch, tag team.

Alright after a month of banging around on the rock lot we after careful consideration decied to spend some real money and rent a hoe ram!$$
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i229/mstrseed/IMAG0042.jpg
Hoe ram would work away then we would have to take it out of the back yard and bring in the back hoe. :- Diana even took a turn at hoe ramming.
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i229/mstrseed/IMAG0044.jpg
The grey tank in the background is home to all but 5 of our Koi. Were working as fast as we can to improve the residence! Really
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i229/mstrseed/IMAG0048.jpg
Removing the spoils from the "staging area".
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i229/mstrseed/IMAG0050.jpg
Did not have much area to work with as you can see.
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i229/mstrseed/IMAG0058.jpg
It ended up being a good 4th of July weekend, no one complained........yet!
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i229/mstrseed/IMAG0052.jpg
The next weekend was a dumpster diving for rebar......did I do good or what??? :o
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i229/mstrseed/IMAG0063.jpg
After another load of steel we were able to borrow a little rock saw that ended up being out matched.
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i229/mstrseed/IMAG0071.jpg
We ended up changing the plan a bit as some of our fellow ponders suggested a depth of 8' would be better than 6'. So not to do things half way decided to take it down a little more. (really it was due to the plumbing ditches..ha)

Bart,
I hope someone will see that the best thing to do is.............................save your money and.......................

hire a contractor!

Not really it has been a truly humbling experience. Most of the aspects of this project I have done before but not in my back yard. So i have been able to pull a lot on experience and a little help from my friends. And I am going to need more help from my friends to finish!
I had done some geo tech work in the direct area a few years back but it was fractured layered rock. So when I buy a house and think well maybe 3 to 4 months.................................

Wow, glad I don't need that big of a buster for my soil. But it sure did get the job done.

That is great news about your concrete (mud :D as you call it), I think.  Maybe your help could be persuaded to work a little later. :D

Bart,
Maybe that's the problem there too white. But not really, free help is real hard to come by. Well it did cost me a computer and I do pay the others, but there's a wedding.

Hey Gail,
I sure do miss Emmalou's big ole black nose. Thanks for the encouragement.

KO, so the little rock saw was a bust and after it laying down on me (really laid down), our prime contractor had a hoe ram onsite that they let me use. ;D This is the view where our access to the back yard was. Nice tight fit, only hit the fence 5 or 6 times (that was everybody not just me) the house once >:( and the roof once. >:(
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i229/mstrseed/IMAG0097.jpg
Working on hoe ramming the sedimentation basin and having to put the spoils back into the pond! ???
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i229/mstrseed/IMAG0099.jpg
Loading up the truck with spoils, to date I belive it was 16 loads or about 600 thousand pounds of rock! :o Bad thing is I have to haul back in some top soil now.
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i229/mstrseed/Kennys.jpg
Yep it was a tight fit, oh yeah we hit the AC unit and pad too. :(
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i229/mstrseed/IMAG0112.jpg
I had to put the back hoe on the spoil pile to removel the spoils while hoe ramming. 8)
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i229/mstrseed/IMAG0131.jpg
Still working on the sedimentation basin along the fence. Oh yeah I hit the fence too. :o
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i229/mstrseed/IMAG0140.jpg
Hoe ramming complete, now to get rid of all that rock!
